Light Test

It’s amazing what you can do with light(s)… the more you have, the more you get? A few months back, I checked out some lights (and a second camera) to attemt to light an interview. My first attemt (on myself) was pretty bad. My second attempt on Erin LaBelle worked out pretty good. This last week though I checked out three more lights and another second camera and gave it another go. This time I think it worked out pretty good considering the tight space of my living room. There’s no audio, just the video test. By the way, it ends with my key light going dark. The ‘globe’ blew three minutes into a final take of a six minute interview.

Johnny husband to the Yak Woman

Newton as Jimmy

Newton as Johnny

While at the Mountain Workshops in Mayfield, Kent., this past October, I spent some time in the studio taping notable professionals asking for their experiences of David LaBelle and The Great Picture Hunt textbook written by LaBelle. After a few serious takes, Jonathan Newton decided to give me an off-the-cuff rendition of his alter ego, Johnny.

Pictures With Purpose interview

After the Pictures With Purpose photojournalism workshop, I spent some time with each of the participants to have them speak about their stories and experiences in the workshop. This is Stacy La Mascus, a student at Brooks Institute and a graduate of the Pictures With Purpose workshop.
