Shaun’s Birthday

Recently bought the new iPhone, mainly because it was time for an upgrade but also I was intrigued by the 720p video built in. I went ahead and bought the iMovie app from Apple thinking it would be fun to cut video on the phone - well it cuts alright… cuts like a dull knife through leather. In fact, it doesn’t cut at all - There’s No Blade Tool! Regardless, I edited (cut) my first movie on the phone from an outing at my friend’s son - Shaun, birthday party. The party was fun, it was fun shooting on the phone and Frustrating using iMovie. Nonetheless, it keeps me in the game. Enjoy.

Afternoon walk with Cooper

I took Cooper for a walk near my mother’s house in Ojai this afternoon. He’s been sequestered since the rains began a few weeks back and in dire need of some running around. I obliged but he had to pose for me. He’s such a great dog and what a personality!

Elk Hunt… with cameras

Early one morning a few of us from the faculty and staff of the Picture Kentucky workshop went hunting for elk in rural Knott County. Charlie Logsden, wildlife biologist with the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife helped us track elk with a bugle call. We weren’t let down.

Just for fun…

There were several clips from my Sunday Sunrise Service shoot that I considered pulling for other reasons, this was kind of that. Before the service, I was playing with the overcranking feature of the EX1 camera and new that I would need some audio. So, I set the camera up to shoot/record the drum circle that was when I noticed some guy strining up a rope on a tree on the side of the hill. What was he doing? I waited to find out. Anyway, just for fun. Enjoy.

David LaBelle chasing the light

David LaBelle and I spent an afternoon last month chasing the light, looking for image to capture for his stock photography business, Native Son Stock. The site, created by David, features images exclusivly from Ventura County and has contributions from other local photographers including myself and Eric Parsons. On this outing, David and I drove around, intially chasing a rainbow, but ended up near Lake Casitas outside of Oak View capturing light, clouds, mountains and the clean air.

Dog park Sunday

This one was just for fun. Shot on my Canon SD1000, I wanted to cut a short piece but ended up with this 11 minute version for my mom and our family. Good chance I’ll cut a much smaller version but just not this morning. We’ve been going to the dog park at Soule in Ojai for the past month or so (pending decent weather). I have some ideas on shooting stories up here but this was just for fun.
