Piscataway, NJ Non-agglomerated nanopowders are becoming increasingly important for a number of commercial applications including UV-scattering, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP), displays and catalysis, among others. While for nanostructures at surfaces various tomographic methods exist free particles elude 3D experimental access because they cannot be immobilized without introducing additional interactions with the environment. We also highlight a few recent studies in applied plasmonics that, although exploratory and eminently fundamental, may lead to new solutions in illumination.
