Sage is a free alternative, which also has a pretty good repertoire of abstract algebra functions, although I haven't used it as extensively so I can't comment much more on it. You can do this by considering the factors of 18 (1 and 18; 2 and 9; 3 and 6) and asking yourself which pair of factors adds up to 9. Anyone you know whom I can go to with leading coefficient, like denominators and graphing circles?

I purchased this book to help me prepare for a graduate-level course as an undergrad. Math majors may choose to take either Math 100ABC or Math 104AB (Modern Algebra), which is less theoretical. Section 0.1 breezes through difficult concepts like functions, sets, and complex numbers. They cover the same essential material as Chapters 3 through 15 of the back-up text, but are a little dense. Review: The author of this book has divided it into three sections: topology, operators, and algebras of operators.

I suggest if you are to use this book, to also get Joseph Gallian's Contemporary Algebra book as well. This takes a little bit of work, but it's a great project for high school art students. A couple days later, I was meeting with one of my undergraduate research students and we chatted briefly about the problem. I will assign even-numbered exercises, since answers to odd-numbered exercises are given at the end of the book. The success rate in Basic Math increased to 65% during the fall 2008 semester but returned to the historical average of 50% during the spring 2009 semester.
